✏️ ABUCHI IROEGBU – The Pencil as a Gentle Weapon
Born in 1998 in Imo State, Abuchi Iroegbu is a rising voice in contemporary hyperrealistic drawing. A graduate in Public Administration, he chose art as a means of resistance and remembrance. Each graphite or charcoal drawing takes over 200 hours to complete—where obsessive detail becomes a silent but powerful statement.

His emotionally charged work parallels the philosophical depth of Clément A. Gbegno and the poetic material reuse of Diafrel, making his voice a vital part of this contemporary artistic dialogue.

His works address urgent themes: sexual violence, solitude, racism, and identity, while celebrating love, resilience, and African heritage. Inspired by nature and mineral textures, Abuchi’s visual storytelling merges realism with spiritual symbolism.

Recognized at Art Axis (Ukraine, 2020), he has exhibited globally, including Vibrant Visions at Galerie Nocte (Paris, 2024). Based in Owerri, he is currently developing a series that bridges ancestral knowledge and contemporary challenges.

“My pencil is a bridge between memories and the future.”
