Pulsation Urbaine

Exposition Collective

5 -28 Mai 2025

Artfrofest is proud to present Pulsations Urbaines, a dynamic group exhibition hosted as part of the Traversées Africaines cultural programme. This exhibition explores the rhythm of urban coexistence through the powerful voices of four contemporary African and diasporic artists: Olisa Nwoye, Lucky Unu Mamu, Abdessalem Elfaleh, and Glory Kanga.

When Cities Breathe, Artists Listen

In Pulsations Urbaines, the city is not a backdrop, it is alive. Breathing, collapsing, reviving it becomes a stage for memory, resistance, and imagination. Each artist channels the pulse of the metropolis to reflect on cohabitation, social tension, and collective healing.

Olisa Nwoye

Nwoye constructs his own spiritual topography through mixed media. His layered canvases become visual mantras ,meditations on peace, cultural harmony, and resilience. The city in his work is a frequency vibrating with beauty, connection, and inner light.

Lucky Unu Mamu

In his poignant Plastic Flowers series, Unu Mamu tackles themes of visibility, fragility, and ecological decay. His photographic approach amplifies contrast and texture to examine our disconnection from nature, and the permanence of plastic as a modern relic.

Abdessalem Elfaleh

Elfaleh turns urban symbols into tools of critique. Everyday objects , prayer rugs, shoes, sacred relics  are subverted to expose social constructs, unspoken oppressions, and institutional silence. His work forces us to question the invisible systems shaping our shared spaces.

Glory Kanga

Kanga’s practice is urgent and unflinching. His paintings respond to climate threats, pandemics, and urban pollution with bold colors and visceral energy. Yet beneath the alarm, his work is also an ode ,  a love letter to nature and a call for collective responsibility.

Pulsations Urbaines draws tension between memory and future, organic and synthetic, chaos and rebirth. It asks: what kind of city do we want to inhabit, and how can art help us reimagine it?

This exhibition invites you to pause, feel the heartbeat of the city, and imagine new paths of coexistence , more conscious, more just, more alive.
